Livestock Scholarships

East Texas Yamboree Livestock Scholarship is for East Texas youth pursing a career in agricultural and mechanical fields. These future ranchers compete and the scholarship recipients are recognized at the livestock show each year.

Ashton Hart

Ashton Hart

My name is Ashton Hart, and I am a senior at Big Sandy High School. I have been an active member of the Big Sandy FFA and Junior FFA chapters since 2019, as a sixth grader. While in FFA, I have shown market goats, challenging myself and developing responsibility, dedication, and a strong work ethic. Last year, I served on the Junior Board, helping set up rabbit and goat pens and helping with the rabbit show. I plan to apply the skills I've gained through FFA and livestock showing to excel in my future career as a pediatric nurse.

Bristol Smith

Briston Smith

Bristol Smith, is a Union Hill High School 2026 graduate, and is the daughter of Dustin and LariAnn Smith. Bristol has been involved with the Yamboree for many years showing rabbits, market goats, Brahman Heifers and she also had projects in AG Mechanics. Along with showing livestock Bristol was a member of the Yamboree Livestock Junior Board where she assisted with many livestock events and volunteered with the “NO LIMITS” livestock show. Bristol was Vice President of the Union Hill FFA and participated in many speaking and judging contests with her FFA team. Bristol graduated ranked 6th in her class and a member of the National Honor Society. Future plans for Bristol include attending East Texas A&M where she plans on majoring in Veterinary Biomedical Technology.

Brooke Collie

Brooke Collie

Brooke Collie is the daughter of Chad and Kate Collie. She has participated in the Yamboree Livestock Show for 9 years, showing broilers, rabbits, swine, and a picnic table. She was also a dancer in the pageant for 3 years and the Bluebonnet Club Countess in 2025. Brooke plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in Biology with hopes of becoming a Pediatric Oncologist.

Caroline Denman

Caroline Denman

Caroline is the daughter of Donnie and Amy Denman. She attended Harmony High school where she served as the FFA Chapter's president as well as competed on the basketball, cheerleading, and tennis teams. Caroline is the 2023 Reserve Grand Champion Horticulture show winner and 2025 Reserve Grand Champion Speaking Contest winner and she also competed in the Ag Mechanics show for 2 years. Caroline was a member of the Junior Livestock Board and helped with the No Limits Livestock Show. After high school, she plans to attend the University of Arkansas to pursue a degree in Agricultural Business.

Chloe Brooks

Chloe Brooks

My name is Chloe Brooks. I have been involved in the Yamboree since I was nine years old. My involvement includes showing Red Brangus heifers for 8 years, showing market goats, showing market steers, serving as a Yamboree Junior Board Member, and volunteering at the No Limits Livestock Show for the last four years. After high school graduation, I will attend Texas A&M University to earn my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition. Using this degree, I plan to become a Registered Nurse. After working for about 1 year as an RN, I would like to pursue a career as an Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner.

James Pearson-Konefat

James Pearson-Konefat

Hi my name is James Pearson-Konefat, and I am a senior at Big Sandy High School. During this time I have participated in numerous activities such as livestock exhibiting, ag mechanics projects, the No Limits livestock show, and the livestock auction. From my sophomore through senior year I have shown steers, specifically Charolais crosses. My freshman through senior year I have done ag mechanics projects with Mr. Van Curen and Mrs. Apple. After graduating, I plan to attend Letourneau University in Longview, Texas where I will pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing.

Jordyn Brown

Jordyn Brown

Jordyn Brown is currently a senior at Big Sandy High School. She is the daughter of Big Sandy natives, Justin Brown and Megan Morgan. Jordyn currently serves as her school's FFA President, Student Council Treasurer, Senior Class Treasurer, Spanish Club Secretary, National Honor Society Vice President, and Miss Big Sandy High School. She also holds the title of Valedictorian of her class. She has participated in Yamboree events, such as, the dairy heifer, broiler, and agricultural mechanics show, floral cups, speaking contests, Queen’s Coronation, and many more. After graduation, Jordyn plans to attend Texas A&M University to study Agribusiness.

Mally Davidson

Mally Davidson

Mally Davidson is a senior at Harmony High School, where she ranks 5th in her class. She is the daughter of Caleb and Jami Davidson and the granddaughter of Rusty and Kathy Ferrell and Kay Davidson. She has participated in the Yamboree, where she has shown broilers, and participated in Junior Board, canning shows, yam pie contests, pageants, and parades. She is also very involved in school activities, participating in volleyball, basketball, track, and FFA. Mally plans to attend the University of Texas at Tyler to pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing and later become a nurse practitioner.

Peyton Downs

Peyton Downs

My name is Peyton Downs, and I am a senior from Diana, Texas. Growing up in the community that is a part of the East Texas Yamboree has allowed me to experience the pride East Texans have in our agricultural heritage and local traditions. Through my involvement in the Yamboree, I have developed a deep respect for service, leadership, and agriculture. I plan to attend Texas A&M University to major in Agribusiness with an interest in agricultural policy. My goal is to pursue a career in public service where I can advocate for agriculture and strengthen rural communities.
